cdmCyclist

At age 57 my brother-in-law suggested I get on a bike. Diet and walking weren’t controlling my weight or my cholesterol numbers. Biking did.

Fast forward a year and I’m biking every chance I get. I travel extensively around the world and now I have a new perspective: to explore cycling safety features as they’re implemented in places such as Istanbul, Montreal, Austin, San Francisco, New York and Barcelona. I will share these perspectives here.

In the Fall of 2009 the City of Newport Beach convened a Bike Safety Committee. The motivations were many, but bike fatalities were happening with alarming frequency. I joined the committee and contributed to a report that was filled with recommendations. Some are already implemented, but there’s still much work to do. I’ll raise those issues here, too.

Cdm stands for Corona del Mar, a beautiful seaside community within Newport Beach, CA.
