In Memoriam: Angel Investor Bill Payne, 1941-2023

I knew Bill as a member of the Las Vegas Angels and the Tech Coast Angels. He was a super angel investor. To me he was a frequent guest on my show and more personally, a mentor.

I remember a time or two when I’d find myself in Las Vegas for one reason or another and reaching out to Bill – meet for coffee? He was always available to talk me down. It’s funny to remember the minute details – he’d show up Las Vegas casual, shorts and a Hawaiian shirt – a look I’d never seen on him. One time he must’ve given me a lift to the airport and as I’m sitting in the passenger seat I notice the air conditioning is set pretty high, maybe 80º, which is higher than I was used to and dressed for, but I quickly could tell was also a typical Las Vegas setting.

Bill died December 19, 2023.
