It's Saturday March 16th at El Paseo – we're watching bikes and peds cross car-free…
Morning Momentum
It’s a beautiful morning in Santa Barbara and I’m riding back from a jaunt to the south, so I hit record to capture the Friday morning commuters on car-free State Street.
Of course I’ve shot State Street many times, but this may be the first time using the GoPro set to 4k60. Was I confused in earlier attempts, thinking 24fps was the way to capture a cinematic look? That just translated into blurry footage as bikes flew past.
An action camera is the way to go here – not the iPhone nor the DJI Pocket 3. By now I knew to aim it straight ahead, as opposed to the many times I’ve shot from the sidewalk at a 90º angle, as the camera is challenged to focus correctly. But the GoPro thinks, “Hey, this is just like skiing down a mountain so lock focus into precisely what’s in front and hold on!” Mounting the camera to the handlebars adds nicely to image stabilization.
