The Farmers Market

I went early to capture the vitality of Santa Barbara’s beloved Farmers Market. The objective was to shoot as if I were flying a drone just above the scene, which isn’t possible for a number of reasons (noise, not safe, against FAA rules), but it gave me the idea to use a 3 meter selfie stick to mimic the effect. At one point an official looking woman asked what it was – “It’s a drone on a stick,” which seemed to satisfied her.

I was able to capture snippets of dialog, which was also part of the assignment.

It won’t be long before the FM moves to its new home, opposite Paseo Nuevo on the plaza outside City Hall on De la Guerra St, as construction of the new Police Station commences. Change is good – their new home will be centrally located and no expense will be spared to provide them a deluxe new site.
